Cheerleading requires a significant commitment. The football season runs from mid-August – November. The basketball/wrestling season runs from December – mid-March. Participants tryout in May, practice throughout the summer and cheer for the JV and Varsity football teams. Competition tryouts will be held the first week of October and participants will cheer for Varsity Basketball and Wrestling, in addition to competing in January. Cheerleaders who are not participating on the competition team will be cheering for all JV Basketball games and Wrestling meets.
In addition to practices, all members are required to attend summer camp and a stunt camp in the fall. We realize family vacations will take place as well as other summer commitments – we do ask that the cheerleader practice cheers/dances at home as well as maintain conditioning a few times a week. Other summer commitments include the 4th of July Parade, the Bull Rodeo fundraiser in July and the Fair Parade. During the school year, the team practices after school at least twice during the week (sometimes three). All team members will be expected to participate in community service and fundraising efforts throughout the year.
All cheerleaders are required to attend every practice, meeting and home game during the season they participate in. Varsity will travel to selected away games. The only excused absences are for doctor’s appointments, funerals or absences from school due to illness. A phone call to one of the coaches prior to an absence from a practice or game is required. All girls are expected to give 100% and be totally committed to the team. Dedication is vital to the success of the team so please carefully consider your willingness to participate.
